In 1994, GM brought back the Impala, which had been dropped in 1985. Based on the Impala SS concept car from the 1992 Detroit Auto Show, the seventh generation Impala SS was a high-performance version of the Caprice similar to the 9C1 police package. Powered by a 350 cu. in. LT1 V8 engine, the Impala SS featured sport-tuned suspension, four-wheel disc brakes and dual exhaust.
First released in the 2020 Nightburnerz series with the signature black paint and 5-spoke wheels, the Hot Wheels ’96 Chevrolet Impala SS has so far been produced in only three different variations, the most recent being a post-apocalyptic police cruiser found in the 2022 Demo Destruction 5-Pack. This example from the 2021 HW Rescue series – with striking red, black and yellow Fire & Rescue livery – is another of the items from the nice box of Chevys my friend, Brad, sent me back in October.
