2023 Hot Wheels Art Cars Super Vans

The Hot Wheels Super Van was first released in 1975 and the original was produced in about 23 variations up to 1985. In 2003, the model was retooled and it’s still going strong with about 43 more variations to date. I found two of the three variations of the 2023 HW Art Cars Super Van at Target. If I ever come across the Zamac version, I’ll post it here.

Other retooled Super Vans in my collection include one from 2013 with Old El Paso livery, the Archie Comics Super Van from 2013, the 2008 Hot Wheels Collectors Convention Super Van, and the HW Art Cars Super Van from 2020.

Variations of the original Super Van in my collection include the black with flames version that I still have from my childhood, a chrome example from the 1979 Super Streeters series, the white flamed-out version from 1980, a metalflake gray variation from 1982, and a nice metalflake blue Kellogg’s promo from 1985.

My 1977 Paramedic and 1979 Thor are other Hot Wheels models that used the same casting as Super Van.

2023 Hot Wheels Batman 5-Pack

While 2022 brought us 7 different variations of the Hot Wheels 1966 TV Series Batmobile, 2023 gave us only one, and it was found in the Batman 5-Pack. I picked up mine back in May at a local Target store.

If I’m being honest, many of the variations of the 1966 TV Series Batmobile look pretty similar (black, gloss black, matte black, satin black, metalflake black), so it’s often the cool packaging that makes these fun to find. In the case of this 5-pack, it’s a chance to also have some other really great castings that I don’t normally collect.

Muscle Bound is a Hot Wheels original design that suggests some of the great American muscle cars of the late 1960s. Camaro? Mustang? GTO? They’re all in there. First released in the 2019 Speed Blur series, it has so far been produced in 5 different variations.

The ’11 Dodge Charger was first released in the 2011 New Models and has so far been produced in 26 different variations. This is not the first time this casting has done work for the Gotham City Police. Since the 2016 Batman v Superman 5-Pack, it has performed law enforcement duties for either Metropolis or Gotham City 7 times. This does, however, introduce a new livery for the GCP.

The coolest car in the 5-pack is this ’49 Merc with Batgirl tampo. The popular Merc has been in the Hot Wheels lineup since 2004, with about 27 variations having been produced. The graphics on this release are really sharp, and that yellow rim on the back wheel is a really nice touch.

Based on the aircraft that Batman flew in the 2012 movie, The Dark Knight Rises, the Hot Wheels The Bat was released the same year as the movie and has been produced in 13 different variations. Fittingly, this is another vehicle that is always some variation of black, dark gray or dark blue and so far it has never had tampo decorations.

Other Hot Wheels TV Series Batmobiles in my collection include one of the 2007 New Models and a 2009 release in the Faster Than Ever Series, another with excellent card art from the 2016 Batman Series, one from the Batman Series of 2020, and most of the variations released in 2022 , including the WalMart exclusive model.

Hot Wheels ’70 Chevelle SS Wagon Variations

The Hot Wheels ’70 Chevelle SS Wagon was first released in 2009 and has been produced in about 29 different variations. My friend, Brad, sent me three more variations of this great model to add to my collection. First we have the awesome yellow variation from the 2019 HW Flames series.

Hot Wheels | FYC38 | 2019 HW Flames | ’70 Chevelle SS Wagon | yellow with black and orange flames, clear windows, black interior, chrome plastic base | Malaysia | white rim black deep dish 8-spoke wheels

Next, one of four different spectacular variations released in the 2018 HW Daredevils series.

And last, but certainly not least, the beautiful gold variation of the 2009 New Models series.

2023 Hot Wheels 55th Anniversary Black and Yellow Series ’66 Chevy Nova

As part of its 50th Anniversary celebration in 2018, Hot Wheels released the Black and Gold Series, a mix of 6 cars (and one chase model) painted satin black with gold accents, all packaged in distinctive black and gold blister cards. Since then, the popular Anniversary Series has returned each year, with a new color combo each time.

2023 brought us the 55th Anniversary Black and Yellow Series, including the ’66 Chevy Nova in Mix 1. My good friend and fellow collector, Brad, found this one for me and sent it to me in a package back in May. The ’66 is looking pretty sharp in these colors and riding on gold retro slot wheels.

Other items in my collection from the various Anniversary Series include the ’64 Impala from the 50th Anniversary Black and Gold Seriesthe ’63 Chevy II from the 51st Anniversary Satin and Chrome Series, and the ’64 Chevy Nova Station Wagon from the 2022 54th Anniversary Blue and Pink Series.
