2023 Hot Wheels Batman 5-Pack

While 2022 brought us 7 different variations of the Hot Wheels 1966 TV Series Batmobile, 2023 gave us only one, and it was found in the Batman 5-Pack. I picked up mine back in May at a local Target store.

If I’m being honest, many of the variations of the 1966 TV Series Batmobile look pretty similar (black, gloss black, matte black, satin black, metalflake black), so it’s often the cool packaging that makes these fun to find. In the case of this 5-pack, it’s a chance to also have some other really great castings that I don’t normally collect.

Muscle Bound is a Hot Wheels original design that suggests some of the great American muscle cars of the late 1960s. Camaro? Mustang? GTO? They’re all in there. First released in the 2019 Speed Blur series, it has so far been produced in 5 different variations.

The ’11 Dodge Charger was first released in the 2011 New Models and has so far been produced in 26 different variations. This is not the first time this casting has done work for the Gotham City Police. Since the 2016 Batman v Superman 5-Pack, it has performed law enforcement duties for either Metropolis or Gotham City 7 times. This does, however, introduce a new livery for the GCP.

The coolest car in the 5-pack is this ’49 Merc with Batgirl tampo. The popular Merc has been in the Hot Wheels lineup since 2004, with about 27 variations having been produced. The graphics on this release are really sharp, and that yellow rim on the back wheel is a really nice touch.

Based on the aircraft that Batman flew in the 2012 movie, The Dark Knight Rises, the Hot Wheels The Bat was released the same year as the movie and has been produced in 13 different variations. Fittingly, this is another vehicle that is always some variation of black, dark gray or dark blue and so far it has never had tampo decorations.

Other Hot Wheels TV Series Batmobiles in my collection include one of the 2007 New Models and a 2009 release in the Faster Than Ever Series, another with excellent card art from the 2016 Batman Series, one from the Batman Series of 2020, and most of the variations released in 2022 , including the WalMart exclusive model.

2022 Hot Wheels Walmart Exclusive Batman TV Series Batmobile

2022 was a big year for the Hot Wheels 1966 TV Series Batmobile. Back in January, I proudly showed 4 of what I thought at the time were 5 different variations released that year. And while I did eventually find the 5th, it turns out there are actually 7!

This metalflake dark blue model with blue flames is from the 2022 Walmart exclusive Batman series. While it is not a premium series (the car has regular wheels and a plastic base), the card art is nicely done.

2016 Hot Wheels Entertainment: Batman Classic TV Series Batmobile

The Hot Wheels Classic TV Series Batmobile was first released in 2007 and has been produced in over 40 different variations. This nice example with playful card art is from the 2016 Hot Wheels Entertainment: Batman series and is another of my finds from a March visit to J & J’s Treasures.

2022 brought us 5 new variations of the Hot Wheels Classic TV Series Batmobile and you can see most of those by clicking here. Other variations in my collection include one of the 2007 New Models and a 2009 release in the Faster Than Ever Seriesanother with excellent card art from the 2016 Batman Series, and one from the Batman Series of 2020.

2022 Hot Wheels Classic TV Series Batmobile 1:50 Scale Variations

The Hot Wheels Batman 1:50 Scale Series originated in 2008 and ran until 2012. In 2016, the series made a return and has continued through 2022. This line of vehicles features a wide variety of different Batmobiles (from cartoons, TV shows and movies) with an occasional vehicle from one of Batman’s allies or an enemies. There are at least 12 different variations of the Classic TV Series Batmobile in this series, although only a few of them seem to have obvious differences outside of the packageing. My friend and fellow collector, Brad, sent me this 2022 release. This larger scale allows for some nice detailing and these models feature chrome plastic wheels with rubber tires. To add to the fun, this Batmobile has a tow hook to pull the Batboat, which is one of the other vehicles included in the series.

The back of the package shows some of the other vehicles available in the 1:50 series.

I have one other loose example of the Hot Wheels 1:50 scale Classic TV Series Batmobile, and, although it has a different county of origin, it is appears to be identical to the 2022 release. It does have the X4033 code stamped on the base, which I believe identifies it as the 2012 release.

2022 Hot Wheels 1966 TV Series Batmobile Variations

Holy Variations, Batman! It’s raining Batmobiles!

For fans of the Hot Wheels 1966 TV Series Batmobile – and I am one – 2022 was a good year, with 5 new variations of the casting issued within the 12 months. I have so far scored 4 of those models, gradually finding them at various places during the course of the year. The Hot Wheels version of the famous George Barris creation was first released in the 2007 New Models and has already been produced in 43 different variations, the latest of which will be included in the 2023 Batman 5-pack.

The Replica Entertainment Series began in 2013 (then called Retro Entertainment) and usually includes at least one of the many different Batmobile castings each year. These are metal body/metal base releases with Real Rider wheels, and the card art is usually as well-done as the vehicles themselves. The TV Series Batmobile in the 2022 series is no exception. I found this one at Dillon’s (Kroger) grocery store in a nearby suburb.

2022 also brought us a Batman Series, not quite on the level of the Replica Entertainment segment (unlike that premium series, these have plastic bases and regular wheels), but with some pretty fun card art just the same. There are 5 different Mixes, with vehicles representing all of the different Batman movies and animated series. By the way, the only 2022 TV Series Batmobile that I don’t yet have is from the Walmart exclusive Mix 5. I found my Mix 1 TV Series Batmobile at Target.

In addition to the TV Series Batmobile, Mix 1 of the 2022 Hot Wheels Batman Series included (pictured here on the back of the card) variations of the Batplane from the Batman Animated Series, the fantasy Batmobile that was created by Hot Wheels designer Omar Rehman in 2019, The Dark Knight Batmobile, and a Gotham City Police Department ’11 Dodge Charger RT from the Batman vs. Superman movie.

The Batman Mini Collection from 2022 is yet another 5-car series of different Batmobile castings, with at least two variations of each – except for the 1/5, metalflake dark blue The Dark Knight Batmobile, which is a Treasure Hunt. This series includes a new casting, the ‘Tooned version of the Classic TV Series Batmobile.

The first color variation of the (non-‘Tooned) TV Series Batmobile is a relatively straightforward gloss black. In my mind, it’s the color the car was meant to be, but it still looks sharp with the red and white Batman tampo and retro-slot wheels. I also found this one at Target.

Hot Wheels | HCV64 | 2022 Batman 4/5 | 1966 TV Series Batmobile | gloss black with red stripes on sides, top and hood, red and white bat on doors, light blue tinted windows, gray interior, black plastic base | Malaysia | retro slot wheels

The second color variation is a much more unconventional, but still very striking, metallic gold paint with purple, black and white tampo combination. It also has retro slot wheels, but in this case they are painted black with a chrome lip. I found this one at Walmart.

Hot Wheels | HCW61 | 2022 Batman 1/5 | Classic TV Series Batmobile | gold with purple, black and white tampo, purple tint windows, gray plastic interior, black plastic base | Malaysia | chrome lip retro slot wheels

Other Hot Wheels TV Series Batmobiles in my collection include one of the 2007 New Models and a 2009 release in the Faster Than Ever Series, another with excellent card art from the 2016 Batman Series, and one from the Batman Series of 2020.

2020 Hot Wheels Batman 1966 TV Series Batmobile

While Hot Wheels now has at least 13 different Batmobile castings (not even counting Batboats, Batcycles, Batcopters, etc.), the 1960s Batmobile – the modified Lincoln Futura created by George Barris for the 1966 TV series – will always be my favorite. I still have the PlayArt model from my childhood, and though I don’t really seek them out, I’m happy to grab another example of this car when I find one somewhere. This model that I found on a recent grocery run to Dillon’s (Kroger) is from the 2020 Hot Wheels Batman series.

In my collection, I also have the 2007 first release of the 1966 TV Series Batmobile, a variation from the 2009 Faster Than Ever series and one from the 2016 Batman series that has really nice card art.

Other 1966 Batmobiles in my collection include a 1976 Corgi Juniors model and a Duncan plastic Batmobile.

2019 Hot Wheels Screen Time Batmobile

As a kid, one of my favorite things was watching Scooby-Doo on the Saturday morning cartoons. And one of the more memorable episodes was when Batman and Robin made a guest appearance. So when I saw a photo of this Scooby-Doo/Batmobile mash-up online awhile back, I knew I had to have one. I have yet to see one in a store, but fortunately my friend Brad found one for me.

The Hot Wheels Brave and the Bold Batmobile has been around since 2010, and this 2019 HW Screen Time version is about the 9th variation to be released. The livery is taken from Scooby-Doo! & Batman: The Brave and the Bold, a direct-to-video film released in 2018. Not too many years ago, my son loved to rent movies like this from the library – which gave me a good excuse to watch them too. Maybe he and I will have to check this one out for old time’s sake.

This is the first version of the Brave and the Bold Batmobile that I’ve added to my collection, though I still have the Playart Batmobile that I’ve had since I was a kid. And you can also see a few of my other Batmobiles here. I also have a couple versions of the Hot Wheels Mystery Machine.

2015 Hot Wheels Batman Series

I couldn’t resist the Hot Wheels 2016 Batman Series. When I found a bin full of them at a Walmart, I picked up one of each.

My favorite Batmobile is the 1960s TV series version, which was designed by the recently departed George Barris. I have the Hot Wheels first release from 2007 and another variation from 2009, as well as a Playart version that I’ve had since childhood. I especially like the comic-book inspired illustration on the package of this latest model.

The next Batmobile in the series first came out in 2004 as the Hardnoze Batmobile.

Next, we have the Batman Begins Batmobile, otherwise known as the Tumbler, which made its Hot Wheels debut as a 2005 Comic-Con exclusive.

This is only the fourth variation of the Hot Wheels Bat-Pod (so far), the first being released in 2008.

And finally, we round out the series with the second Hot Wheels variation of the Arkham Knight Batmobile, which just came out in 2015.

Hot Wheels Batmobiles

This one is for my friend and fellow-blogger, Joel, who has a nice collection of Batmobiles too.

My favorite Batmobile is the one from 1966, and I’ve had a Playart version of it since I was a kid. I was pretty excited when Hot Wheels released their version as a New Model in 2007.

img_3334img_3340K6147 | 2007 New Models 1966 TV Series Batmobile 15/36 | black w Batman logo| 5SP

There now about 11 variations of this casting, and the only other one I have is this Faster Than Ever release from 2009.

img_3333img_3341P2453 |  2009 Faster Than Ever 1966 Batmobile 7/10 | black w Batman logo | FTE

For me, another important Batmobile is the one created for the 1989 Tim Burton Batman movie. This first came out as a Hot Wheels First Editions model in 2004. There are about 8 variations, including this HW Imagination release from 2013.

img_3332img_3339X1709 | 2013 HW Imagination 61/250 | Batmobile | black | gray PR5

Hot Wheels now has about 10 different Batmobiles inspired by many of the different movie and cartoon creations over the years, and there are multiple variations of each. This doesn’t include the Batcopters, Batcycles and Batpods, not to mention Batmobiles produced by other brands. So, if someone wanted to get serious about collecting Batmobiles, (I admit, it is tempting) they could keep at if for a long time!
