2007 Hot Wheels Classics Walgreens Exclusive 3-Pack with ’68 Chevy Nova, Heavy Chevy and ’52 Chevy

Hot Wheels Classics, with packaging inspired by the original late-60s Hot Wheels, were first released in 2005 and ran until 2009 in 5 different series. These metal body and metal base models had Spectraflame paint and redline (5- or 7-spoke) wheels. There were dozens of different castings included, and each could be found in a variety of different colors. The 2007 Series 3 included Walgreens-exclusive 3-packs which featured color variations of the cars not found in other stores.

I’ve been wanting this particular Hot Wheels Classics Walgreens 3-Pack since I first learned of its existence several years ago. Though the card is a little rough on this example, which I found on eBay, I was glad to finally land one of these at a price I was willing to pay. It includes two of my favorite castings – the ’68 Nova and the Heavy Chevy – along with a nice ’52 Chevy pickup.

This Spectraflame aqua ’68 Nova is the elusive fourth color of the Hot Wheels Classic releases; the other colors of this casting are Spectraflame dark orange, Spectraflame gold and Spectraflame magenta.

The chrome Club Kit Heavy Chevy that I still have from my childhood was always the fastest car on the orange track. Ever since then, I’ve been a big fan of this ’68 Camaro with a blown engine – and this antifreeze version is a real beauty. I also have the Spectraflame aqua and Spectraflame red variations from the Hot Wheels Classics Series 3, as well as a really nice Hot Wheels Collector’s Club Spoilers version from 2017.

The ’52 Chevy was a new casting for the 2007 Hot Wheels Classics and it was released in 5 Spectraflame colors including ice blue, green, red, orange and the Walgreens-exclusive chrome that you see here. Appropriately, this model wears whitewall tires instead of redlines. This is the first example of this casting that I’ve added to my collection.

2006 and 2007 Hot Wheels ’58 Impalas

The Hot Wheels ’58 Impala, which was first cast in 2007, is one we don’t see very often. Of the 10 different versions, 5 were included in that first year’s release in the Hot Wheels Classics Series 3. I have two of those – Spectraflame gold and light purple, which you can see below (the other colors that can be found are Spectraflame shades of red, ice blue and dark blue).

In 2008, the ’58 Impala showed up in the Since ’68 Series, which commemorated 40 years of the brand. The series was made up of four segments: Top 40; Muscle Cars; Originals; and Hot Rods, in which the ’58 Impala was included. I think this metalflake gray with red model in basic redlines is super sharp.

In 2009, the ’58 Impala was included in the Connect Cars series and in 2011 there were two variations in the Treasure Hunts. The most recent appearance of the casting was the American Graffiti ’58 Impala in the 2013 Retro Entertainment Series.

2017 Hot Wheels Collector’s Spoilers Heavy Chevy and Friends

My favorite childhood car is my Hot Wheels Club Kit Heavy Chevy. So when the Hot Wheels Collectors Club announced the release of the HWC Spoilers Heavy Chevy, they had my attention. Not being a Red Line Club member, I had to wait until the day after the release to order mine. Fortunately, they had not sold out – I got #1395 in a limited release of 5000. Packaged in a replica of the original redline-era blister card, this beauty comes with a collector’s button and decal sheet, and is protected in a plastic clamshell.

The Hot Wheels Heavy Chevy was first released in 1970 in a variety of specraflame colors. It made an appearance in the 1974 Flying Colors series and a few years later in Super Chromes, then in 2002 it was re-tooled. I have two color variations from the 2007 Hot Wheels Classics series.

Hot Wheels ’58 Impala

The Hot Wheels ’58 Impala made its first appearance in 2007 in the Hot Wheels Classics Series 3. There were 5 color variations, of which I have the Spectraflame Gold and Spectraflame Purple versions. With their white tops, chrome trim and whiteline tires, these are some pretty sharp models.

The following year, the ’58 Impala was included in the Since ’68 Hot Rods series wearing distinctive Metalflake Grey paint with red tampos.

2007 Hot Wheels Classics Spectraflame Magenta ’68 Chevy Nova

While running errands today, my wife suggested we check out the Village Flea Market, a place I haven’t been in quite awhile. There were three booths that had a decent selection of diecast cars, and at one of these I found this magenta Hot Wheels Classics that I was missing from my collection of ’68 Chevy Novas.

2012 Hot Wheels Muscle Mania – GM ’62 Chevy

Here’s another bubbletop Chevy, the ’62 Bel Air hardtop, which first appeared in the Hot Wheels lineup in 2004. Though technically not an Impala, I can’t resist including these striking Chevys in my collection. I have several, and this gold beauty is one of the nicest.

[Four months later] I wandered into a Dollar Tree earlier this week and picked up the metallic blue version of this same car. Also, below you can see photos of a few other ’62 Chevys from my collection. And, I changed my mind. I decided the spectraflame blue version below from the Hot Wheels classic series is the nicest of the bunch. Which one is your favorite?
